Metal hydride canister (CAN3) 16 hours 5 hours 3 hours
Startup
The unit is completely self-contained – no external battery is needed, integral mains inverter. The fuel canister is also incorporated when operational.
Power output Up to 200 watts peak for short periods
100 watts nominal
Operating temperature range 5°C to 40°C
Output AC (Mains) Either 230V 50Hz AC or 110V 60Hz AC versions
Modified sine wave.
Mains voltage on demand – push button start.
Output DC 13.8V DC.
Can be used in continuous current limit mode.
AC/DC Modes The AC and DC modes are completely independent and are selectable.
Emissions Zero greenhouse gases or toxic emissions.
During normal operation a very small amount of water vapour is emitted.
Fuel Hydrogen is supplied in a simple-to-fit, plug-in canister. Canister can be installed or replaced in seconds. Canister can be changed while unit is operating. Unit diagnostics monitor canister hydrogen level and indicate fuel and time remaining.
Each canister provides approx 340 watt-hours and contains approx 250 litres of hydrogen.
The unit can supply 20-40 watt-hours of mains output, without hydrogen, depending on the load.
Cost of Fuel Hydrogen fuel costs half the price (or less) of comparable systems.
Operational Features Features are selected via the front panel switches and feedback supplied on the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD).
Mode 1 Normal
In this mode the unit will deliver power to both the AC and DC outlets simultaneously. The “On” switch on the unit will start the fuel cell and run continuously. The internal controller will manage the load on the fuel cell automatically.
In this mode the unit will supply both AC and DC power simultaneously from its internal battery. When switching off the unit, user will be prompted too allow the unit to recharge the internal battery. This can be over-ridden. The unit displays the approximate fuel left, in %, and the estimated run on time, in minutes, at the current loading. It is necessary to reset this feature when inserting a new canister.
Mode 2 Reset the Fuel Gauge Y/N selectable.
Mode 3 Mains off / DC Only
As mode 1 but DC only.
Mode 4 Auto Charge
Unit is capable of continuously monitoring a 12 volt lead acid battery bank (automobile-type) and automatically switches on and off as the float voltage varies, keeping the battery charged.
Unit will charge any battery through the AC or DC charging outlets.
Mode 5 Unit Diagnostics
Unit displays internal diagnostic information and operational parameters.
Mode 6 Watt Hours Produced
Unit displays total power produced, in watt-hours, since manufacture.
Mode 7 Unit Series Number & Build Standard
Displays unit serial number and build standard data
Software Remotely upgradeable software via RS232 serial port - modem and dedicated line required.
Support & Maintenance Remote diagnostics available via integrated RS232 serial port and modem.
Optional connection through local VPN and TCP/IP link.
System Safety Management
The unit will automatically manage the system and warn on certain failure conditions. In the unlikely event that a hydrogen leak is detected, the unit will shut down. However, most other conditions will be managed in order to keep some power available whilst preventing the stack from damage. If the power level exceeds the normal loading for too long or exceeds the peak loading, a buzzer will sound indicating that the user should remove some load or the unit will go into standby mode and disconnect the power outlet.
